Best GI Choice Ping G15 Irons Reviews
The classic Ping G15 Irons provide the high-launching, maximum forgiveness attributes that bring consistency to your iron play. With stronger lofts and a wider sole, they are the best choice to improve your game.
Appearance – 4 stars
The G15 have a slightly thinner face design with more weight moved to the toe to help increase forgiveness and the lofts are stronger and the sole design slightly wider than on the G10 irons to help produce strong and high trajectory. The Ping G15 irons also have a full cavity graphics badge which helps to improve the feel of the club and promote a much softer feel.
Technology – 5 Stars
The biggest improvement is that the G15 irons are a bit more forgiving thanks to the moment of inertia increasing which Ping has achieved by introducing a custom tuning port that is further back from the face of the clubhead. This has allowed Ping's designers to remove seven grams from the G15’s face custom tuning port structure without destabilizing the clubface or reducing distance control. This weight is repositioned to move the center of gravity lower and back in the club head to help provide high launch and optimal spin.
The design of Ping G15 Irons created more perimeter weighting than previous G lines. The weight comes from a thinner more explosive face. The 7grams of weight taken from the face are put out on the toe and a Custom Tuning Port behind the sweetspot. The look is a little bit much with such a busy cavity, but the new colors are great. Black and Red really look nice on the brushed dark stainless head.
Performance – 5 Stars
They definitely hit high, but do not balloon even into the wind. They were very forgiving right across the face and the full cavity graphics badge did its job in enhancing the feel and sound of the club at impact. For mid to high handicappers these clubs are ideal and are available in sets from 3 iron through to sand wedge.
Overall – 5 Stars
For mid to high handicappers, the Ping G15 Iron Set are ideal and are available in sets from 3 iron through to sand wedge. From 130 yards and in, even higher handicappers should become more confident playing approach shots with the G15 irons.
